In addition, the Center holds competitions for establishing research training programs, carrying out research related to statistical and methodological practices in education research, evaluating state and local education programs, and for establishing National Research and Development Centers. Finally, the National Center for Special Education Research within the Institute of Education Sciences funds research targeting the educational needs and outcomes of students identified with special education needs.
