CMSE Summer Internship Program
The Center for Minorities in Science and Engineering is hiring 8-10 full-time undergraduate students and 2-3 part-time undergraduate students for its Summer Internship Program. Students who are selected will work in various capacities (coordinating activities, teaching, chaperoning, etc.) in a variety of pre-college summer programs which include: SPICE, a program for rising 9th and 10th grade students; LEGO Robotics for rising 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students; ESTEEM Research Mentoring Program for rising 12th grade students; and SER-Quest for Rising 12th grade students. Interns will also have a final paper/evaluation and presentation that is required. Undergraduate summer interns will receive 3-4 weeks of training prior to the start of the various programs. Experience teaching, programming, involvement in research programs, writing research papers, working with LEGO MindStorm, SeaPerch, and / or working with elementary and middle school students and with ethnically diverse populations is preferred.
Internship dates: May 30-August 3, 2012 (9 l/2 weeks).
Work hours are 8:30 a.m. 2:00 from May 30 June 29, 2012 and July 30-August 3, 2012
8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. July 2 July 27, 2012
Evening and weekend work may be required.
Salary range: $10.00 $12.00 per hour (the higher salary will be paid based on experience).
