MSE offers three graduate degrees: the Master of Science (M.S.) in MSE, the Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in MSE through the Maryland Applied Graduate Engineering (MAGE) program, and the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in MSE. Our programs encompass advanced education in the entire spectrum of the field of materials: organics, semiconductors, ceramics, metals and composites.

It must be based on an original research project approved by the student's advisor and the committee approved by the Graduate School. The Ph.D. candidate must defend his/her dissertation prior to the final approval in an oral examination.
