Information About Admissions
All Materials Science and Engineering majors must meet admission, progress, and retention standards of the A. James Clark School of Engineering.
Students who wish to study at the Clark School apply for admission to the University of Maryland; there is no separate application for engineering. When filling out the university application, you may choose materials science and engineering as your intended major. You may also apply as an undecided engineering major. First Year Applicants
When completing the university application, you may choose MSE as your intended major. Alternatively, if you are undecided, you may choose MSE at a later date.

Transfer Applicants
The A. James Clark School of Engineering is a Limited Enrollment Program. University of Maryland students not enrolled in the Clark School or those interested in transferring from another institution must successfully complete a specific set of courses, known as gateway requirements.
