Help MSE Advance!

Make a gift to MSE

The Clark School is achieving rapid progress in its research, education and entrepreneurship missions, fueled in part by state funding but more and more by private philanthropy—generous gifts from alumni, friends and corporate partners.

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) is a critical component in the University of Maryland's mission to educate the brightest students from the state of Maryland, the country and the world; and in developing technological solutions to the pressing problems of society though advanced research. Our faculty are research leaders in energy, nanotechnology and biotechnology.

Departmental Priorities

Financial aid resources for students are quite limited. This is especially acute as we look to expand our undergraduate enrollment to augment our educational impact on society. Providing scholarships allows the department to be competitive in recruiting the best and brightest students. Scholarships also provide the opportunity for low-income students to afford a college education.

Graduate fellowships will help us attract the best candidates to our highly productive Ph.D. program. Graduate students form the backbone of our research efforts and will go on to be leaders in industry, academia and government around the world.

Also important to the Department are named professorships. Support for a named professorship will help attract the absolute top faculty to the Department and Clark School, and help ensure that the University of Maryland is a leader in advancing technology and engineering to solve the diverse array of problems confronting society and the world.

Choosing a Giving Method

You can designate a gift of any amount to support the MSE Department in ways you may not have thought of before, such as providing lab supplies or other resources for research, sponsoring a student organization or our seminar series, sponsoring a Capstone project, contributing towards the cost of student living expenses, and so much more!
