Quantum computing at IBM
In this presentation, I will provide an overview of the applications of quantum computing in simulating physical systems. I will begin by examining the physics of superconducting qubits, and subsequently discuss IBM's hardware and software development plans for scaling these processors. Additionally, I will delve into the impact of noise on quantum computations, and present recent findings on characterizing and mitigating noise, drawing upon my own research and that of my colleagues at IBM. Lastly, I will highlight the various career opportunities and educational resources available within the field of quantum computing at IBM Quantum.
Alireza Seif is a research scientist at IBM. He received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Maryland, where he conducted research at the Joint Quantum Institute. After completing his Ph.D., Alireza joined the University of Chicago as a Prize Postdoctoral Fellow in Theoretical Quantum Sciences. His research interests include quantum optics, quantum information theory, and the application of machine learning in physics. At IBM Quantum, Alireza works on demonstrating the best science possible with current quantum systems.
