Design, Discovery, and Understanding of New Materials by Computation
Abstract: The advancements of next-generation technologies are increasingly reliant on the development of new materials with superior properties. Key areas such as solid-state batteries, solid oxide fuel cells/electrolyzers, and advanced membranes are in urgent need of fast ion-conducting materials. In this seminar, I will present some of our latest studies on the design and discovery of fast ion-conducting materials using computation techniques. I will also showcase how we employ atomistic modeling techniques to unravel complex mechanisms, such as diffusion, disordering, phase transitions, and interfacial dynamics. Some other ongoing projects will also be discussed.
Bio: Yifei Mo is an Associate Professor at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park, MD, USA.
