Safety Insights: Safety Excellence in Materials Science and Engineering
Abstract: Join us for an interactive review of critical safety topics tailored to the unique challenges within Materials Science and Engineering. This session will include a collaborative group activity and discussion focused on practical strategies for implementing safety measures in various research scenarios.
Biographies:
- Miriam Sharp, PhD, Manager Laboratory Safety & Chemical Hygiene Officer. Miriam received her PhD in Geology from the University of Maryland and leads her team in supporting safety where hazardous materials and hazardous operations occur in research, teaching, and field work.
- Mary Dorman, Associate Director ESSR Office of Research Safety. Mary has a background in radiation safety and now manages the ESSR Office of Research Safety. Mary strives to provide an effective research safety program that facilitates research and supports the researchers on campus in achieving their goals.
