Generating, Storing, and Managing Energy with Ferroelectrics

Abstract: Can ferroelectrics be the answer to all the world’s problems? Probably not, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t try. In this talk Brendan will discuss three vignettes dealing with various ferroelectrics in energy applications: wireless power generation with pyroelectrics, energy storage with Antiferroelectrics, and finally power conditioning in ferroelectric nitride HEMTS. Throughout the discussion, Brendan will weave a thread showing how material properties have unexpected implications on device performance once you consider fabricate-ability and in operando performance.
