Thixotropic Photocurable Gels: Separators for Blood Collecting, Processing and Testing
Jane F. Emerson, M.D., Ph.D.
Professor of Clinical Pathology
Vice Chair, Department of Pathology
University of Southern California
Photocurable separator gels are being developed for application in blood collection devices used for clinical laboratory testing. The desired function, design challenges and current status of plasma and serum separator collection tubes will be presented. Pilot data indicates the novel technology will accelerate the identification of molecular markers (cell-free DNA, exosome RNA) for disease diagnosis and longitudinal monitoring.
