MSE Alumnus Named UConn Tech Park Executive Director

Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) alumnus S. Pamir Alpay has recently been named the executive director of the University of Connecticut Technology Park. Alpay, currently a University of Connecticut professor of Materials Science and Engineering, will lead the Tech Park in establishing new industry relationships that benefit the UConn community.

Originally from Ankara, Turkey, Alpay received his Ph.D. in materials science and engineering in 1999 from the University of Maryland. He was advised by Dr. Alexander Roytburd and remained at UMERC as a research associate until 2001. At that time, he moved to UConn as an assistant professor, becoming a full professor in 2010. Alpay also leads United Tech Corporation Aerospace Systems (UTAS) Center for Advanced Materials
