Liangbing Hu Honored for his ‘Sustainable’ Contributions

Liangbing Hu, associate professor in the University of Maryland (UMD) Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), has received multiple honors as of late, including an R&D 100 Award for his “super wood” research. The R&D 100 Awards program identifies and celebrates outstanding revolutionary technologies each year. 

HIVE - Housing innovation, vision and economics - recognized Hu as a 2018 50 Honoree for his “nanowood” research. The HIVE 50 is made up of the top people, products and processes leading the charge to inspire creativity, higher performance and innovation in housing in the categories of capital, design, building technology, strategy and intel. The honorees were celebrated at the third annual HIVE conference in Austin, Texas, last November.

Hu also made the 2018 Highly Cited Researchers list by Clarivate Analytics. Highly Cited Researchers are selected for their exceptional research performance, determined by production of multiple highly cited papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and year in Web of Science.
