Tian Li to Receive Materials Research Society Postdoctoral Award

Tian Li, a post-doctoral research scientist with the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at the University of Maryland (UMD), has been selected to receive a postdoctoral award from the Materials Research Society (MRS) for her “innovative and pioneering research in wood nanotechnology and nanocellulose toward energy, water and sustainability.”           

“During my postdoc, I have been working on several projects includng high temperature (up to 3300 K) thermoelectrics, emerging cellulose science, and engineering for energy efficient building matierals and ion regulation,” said Li. “Professor [Liangbing] Hu is truly an amazing adviser. With his tremendous support and guidance, my postdoc study has been both stimulating and rewarding! He nominated me for this award, and I am eternally grateful.”

This award – consisting of a trophy, cash prize and formal recognition at the 2020 MRS Spring Meeting and Exhibit – recognizes outstanding postdoctoral scholars, offering excellence in scientific research, leadership, or teaching in their postdoc position. The next MRS meeting will take place April 13 – 17, 2020, in Phoenix, Az.
